In a cosy kitchen filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and simmering soups, a little Kwaggle named Baby Mar sat at the table, her feathers ruffled and her beak twisted in a frown. Across from her, her mother, Mama Kwaggle, placed a plate on the table, piled high with slices of bread filled with a vibrant purple filling.

“Here you go, Baby Mar,” Mama Kwaggle chirped cheerfully. “I made you a delicious beetroot sandwich for lunch!”

But instead of the delighted squawk Mama Kwaggle had hoped for, Baby Mar’s expression darkened even further. She wrinkled her nose and crossed her wings, refusing to even look at the sandwich in front of her.

“I don’t want to eat it, Mama,” Baby Mar protested, her voice tinged with frustration. “Beetroot sandwiches are gross!”

Mama Kwaggle sighed softly, her feathers drooping in disappointment. She had hoped that Baby Mar would enjoy the nutritious and colourful sandwich, but it seemed her little one had other ideas.

“Baby Mar, beetroot sandwiches are good for you,” Mama Kwaggle explained gently. “They’re packed with vitamins and minerals that will help you grow big and strong.”

But Baby Mar remained unconvinced. She pushed the plate away with a defiant squawk, her appetite spoiled by the thought of eating something she didn’t like.

Seeing her little one’s distress, Mama Kwaggle paused for a moment, her beak curling into a thoughtful smile. She knew that forcing Baby Mar to eat something she didn’t enjoy would only lead to more tears and tantrums. Instead, Mama Kwaggle decided to try a different approach.

“Alright, Baby Mar,” Mama Kwaggle said softly, scooping up the plate of beetroot sandwiches. “How about we make something else for lunch together? Something that you’ll enjoy eating.”

Baby Mar’s eyes brightened at the suggestion, her feathers fluffing up with excitement. She loved spending time in the kitchen with her mother, mixing and stirring and tasting all sorts of delicious treats.

Together, Mama Kwaggle and Baby Mar set to work, rummaging through the pantry and refrigerator for ingredients. They chopped fresh vegetables, grated cheese, and spread creamy hummus onto slices of bread, creating a colourful array of sandwiches that made Baby Mar’s mouth water with anticipation.

As they sat down to enjoy their home made feast, Baby Mar couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and joy. She may not have liked beetroot sandwiches, but she loved the time she spent with her mother, cooking and laughing and sharing special moments together.

And as they savoured each bite of their delicious lunch, Baby Mar realised that it wasn’t just about the food—it was about the love and care that went into preparing it, and the bond between a mother and her little Kwaggle that made every meal a cherished memory.
